Robin Sorensen

I'm Robin Sorensen, co-founder of Firehouse Subs.

Robin O. Sorensen co-founder, Firehouse subs [email protected]·@robinsorensen Robin Sorensen co-founded Firehouse Subs with his brother Chris in 1994 in their hometown of Jacksonville, FL. The chain began with a dream and one restaurant, and has grown into a sub empire of 7,000 employees, more than 500 restaurants, and $300 million in revenue. The creation of Firehouse Subs, from the menu to the décor, came from the Sorensen brothers’ imagination. They believed they could surpass the competition with a quality product and superior customer service. The foundation was a love for cooking, a passion for serving others and an entrepreneurial spirit. It’s why Firehouse Subs is one of the fastest growing sandwich chains in the nation.   Robin was cooking up food and business ideas when he was a teenager, so the success of Firehouse Subs is not a surprise to those who knew him. Today he is chief negotiator, ambassador and the fire behind the company. When not at Firehouse Subs Headquarters, he travels the country on “Founders Tours,” personally visiting every Firehouse Subs restaurant, or cuts up in the studio with Chris recording radio - and television commercials for their young, national brand. His proudest accomplishment is serving as co-founder and chairman of Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, a non-profit organization that improves the life-saving capabilities of emergency service entities in need, providing funding, resources and support. The 501(c)(3) was founded in 2005, and has given more than $3.9 million to hometown heroes, including fire and police departments and EMS organizations. In 2011, the Foundation reached a milestone, raising $1.8 million; the Sorensen brothers are proud to be its largest donors. In 2009, Robin was the recipient of the FBI’s Director’s Community Leadership Award. His father-in-law, Perry Speevack, a decorated FBI special agent for 24 years, passed away from cancer in August 2009. Speevack had great respect for his son-in-law’s community-mindedness and vowed to submit him for the award until he won. The Director's Community Leadership Award is presented to individuals whose achievements in the areas of crime prevention, drug deterrence, or similar educational programs have made a positive difference in their communities. Robin accepted the award in Washington, DC in March 2010. Robin was named to his state restaurant industry organization’s Hall of Fame when he won 2011 Restaurateur of the Year by the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association. Qualifications for this prestigious award include having a personal record of industry achievement over a period of at least 20 years.  Robin has been married to his wife and best friend Tabitha for 20 years. Their children are Indyana, Sanna, Sophie and Emory. Robin is known for his hospitality and loves entertaining with family and friends. He is a world traveler and can always be found enjoying his passion for food. His favorite Firehouse sub is a tie between the New York Steamer and the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket.
